Fixed, Detachable, and Swan Neck Towbars Explained
There are three common towbar styles fitted in the UK. Fixed flange towbars are the most versatile and accept bolt on accessories like bumper protectors and stabilisers. Fixed swan necks have a cleaner line but only accept a standard ball hitch. Detachable swan necks remove entirely when you are not using them, leaving only a small receiver visible under the bumper.
